I'm the author of that article you mentioned about eating in Arlington when nearly broke. I am aware of Chowhound favorites like El Charrito and Ravi, but was focusing on bargain nights. I know other Arlington bargain nights (including burgers and sushi) and may followup with some of these ideas in a later Arlington bargain post. :)
